Colorado saw the seventh-highest increase in population out of all 50 states and Washington D.C., with a net increase of 87,499 people moving into the state in 2014 compared to a year prior according to new data released by the U.S. Census Bureau this week. Overall, the state's population rose 1.66 percent — from 5,268,367 in 2013 to 5,355,866 in 2014. For comparison, the entire United States grew by 0.86 percent in 2014, adding 2,728,217 residents to grow from 316,128,839 in 2013 to 318,857,056 in 2014.
When it comes to counties, Weld County ranked No. 26 out of 814 counties in the U.S., seeing a population increase of 2.92 percent, from 269,785 in 2013 to 277,670 in 2014. Douglas County was No. 31 overall, with population growing from 305,963 in 2013 to 314,638 in 2014 – up 2.84 percent. Larimer County also had a big bump, up 2.57 percent — No. 47 overall.
That was followed by Adams County, where population grew by 2.46 percent or No. 54 overall. Denver County grew by 14,367 people, or 2.21 percent — No. 73 overall. And Arapahoe County saw a 1.94 percent increase in growth, No. 103 overall. Jefferson County was No. 239 overall, with a 1.22 percent increase. Boulder County's population increased by 1.06 percent, No. 288 out of the 814 counties analyzed.
